Your take-out food may soon come in a cardboard container.

Two Massachusetts legislators are advancing their effort to ban the use of Styrofoam by restaurants across the state.

Sen. Michael Barrett, of Lexington, and Rep. Frank Smizik, of Brookline, have filed a bill that would give restaurants a year to find containers made out of materials other than polystyrene for dispensing food.

The Youth Climate Adaptation Challenge, an environmental science fair, will be held on April 2 at the Pierce School, 50 School St., as part of Climate Week 2016. Registration is for students in grades K-12. Registration before the event is required.

As a State Representative, I have had many important legislative successes, and I have gained knowledge and developed expertise that has helped Brookline and the state.  But there is still much work to be done, and I want the opportunity to continue to work for the people of Brookline and the Commonwealth.

BOSTON For Holly Marcus, the fear of having to leave her North End neighborhood after nearly 40 years is beginning to feel real.

Marcus was one of dozens of Massachusetts residents who showed up at the State House on Tuesday morning to testify for a proposal that would prevent landlords from acting on expiring federal restrictions that currently shelter subsidized apartments from the forces of supply and demand.
